Tostran® Gel - Treatment Information

An overview of Tostran, a prescription testosterone gel used in testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) when clinically appropriate.

This is an information page only. Tostran cannot be requested or purchased directly. Testosterone replacement therapy is only considered after blood testing, symptom assessment, and a full clinical review. If you think your testosterone levels may be low, the first step is a testosterone test.

IMPORTANT CLINICAL NOTICE

Vivamen does not initiate testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) directly from this page.

Tostran is only prescribed following appropriate blood testing, assessment of symptoms, and clinician review. If you have not already had a comprehensive hormone and safety assessment, the consultation process will first guide you towards testing rather than treatment.

Although no prescription is needed, you’ll be asked a few questions before ordering so a pharmacist can check that sildenafil is safe and suitable for you. Supply is not guaranteed.

OVERVIEW

Tostran® is a prescription-only testosterone gel used as part of testosterone replacement therapy for men with confirmed testosterone deficiency.

It contains testosterone in a fast-drying gel that is applied daily to the skin. Tostran is supplied in a metered-dose pump, allowing clinicians to adjust dosing more gradually where appropriate.

As with all testosterone treatments, Tostran is not suitable for everyone and is only prescribed following a full clinical assessment — including blood testing, review of symptoms, and evaluation of safety markers.

This page is provided for informational purposes so that men researching TRT can understand what Tostran is, how it works, and what to expect if it is ever prescribed.

When Tostran may be prescribed

Tostran may be prescribed when all of the following apply:

  • Persistent symptoms consistent with testosterone deficiency
  • Blood tests showing low or borderline testosterone on appropriate testing
  • Additional hormone and safety markers have been reviewed
  • A clinician has assessed risks, benefits, and alternatives
  • Informed consent has been obtained

Many men with low testosterone levels do not require TRT. A low result alone does not determine whether treatment is appropriate.

Tostran delivers testosterone through the skin into the bloodstream.

Once absorbed, testosterone supports normal male physiological functions such as:

  • Sexual function
  • Energy levels
  • Mood regulation
  • Muscle maintenance

Daily application helps maintain testosterone levels within the normal physiological range. The pump-based format allows for dose adjustments based on blood test results and clinical response.

When prescribed, Tostran is typically:

  • Applied once daily, usually in the morning
  • Applied to clean, dry skin on the abdomen or inner thighs
  • Delivered via a metered-dose pump

After application:

  • Allow the gel to dry fully before dressing
  • Wash hands thoroughly after use
  • Avoid skin contact with others at the application site until washed

Dose changes are made only following blood test review and clinician assessment.

Testosterone replacement therapy requires regular monitoring. This typically includes:

  • Repeat blood tests to assess testosterone levels
  • Monitoring of blood count, PSA, and other safety markers
  • Ongoing review of symptoms and potential side effects

Treatment may be adjusted, paused, or stopped depending on clinical findings.

Like all medicines, Tostran can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them.
Possible side effects include

Testosterone can transfer to others through skin contact if precautions are not followed. This is particularly important around women and children. Full safety information is provided before any treatment begins.

Who should not use Tostran

Other medications and health conditions may also affect suitability. These are checked during the clinical assessment process.
