Overview

Hormones play an important role in many aspects of men’s health, including energy levels, mood, libido, muscle mass, sleep, and overall wellbeing.

The Full Hormonal Health Check (male) is a more extensive blood test designed to support a structured clinical assessment of male hormone health. It looks beyond testosterone alone and includes hormone, safety, and metabolic markers that clinicians commonly review when symptoms suggest a possible hormone imbalance.

The test is completed at home, analysed by a UK laboratory, and reviewed by a clinician. Results are explained clearly, with guidance on what they may indicate and whether further assessment, monitoring, or discussion may be appropriate.

This test does not provide a diagnosis and does not determine treatment on its own. Any next steps depend on symptoms, repeat testing where needed, and clinician judgement.

HOW THIS TEST IS USED

This test is commonly used when a more complete hormonal and safety picture is needed.

By measuring testosterone alongside related hormones and baseline safety markers, clinicians can better understand:

In some cases, results may support a discussion about potential treatment options. In others, no treatment may be recommended. Blood results alone never determine treatment.

WHAT THE TEST MEASURES

The Extended Testosterone & Male Hormonal Health Check is designed specifically for adult men and provides a detailed assessment of key hormones linked to male health and wellbeing. The test measures testosterone as a primary marker, alongside additional hormonal indicators that help build a clearer picture of overall male hormonal balance.

All results are analysed using male-specific reference ranges, ensuring accurate interpretation and clinically relevant insights to support informed health decisions.

WHAT DOES THE TEST MEASURE?

The Full Hormonal Health Check (male) measures a broad range of hormone and health markers. These are reviewed together rather than in isolation.

Total testosterone

Measures the overall level of testosterone in the blood and is a key part of assessing androgen status.

Free testosterone

Reflects the portion of testosterone available for the body to use and can help explain symptoms when total levels appear borderline.

Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG)

A protein that affects how much testosterone is available to tissues.

Albumin

A blood protein used alongside other markers when interpreting hormone levels.

Oestradiol (oestrogen)

Present in men and involved in sexual function, mood, and bone health. Imbalances can affect wellbeing.

Prolactin

Raised levels can interfere with testosterone production and sexual function.

Luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)

Help determine how testosterone production is being regulated and support assessment of underlying cause.

TSH and Free T4

Thyroid markers that influence metabolism and energy levels. Thyroid imbalance can mimic symptoms of low testosterone.

PSA (prostate-specific antigen)

A marker related to prostate health, interpreted carefully and in context.

Full blood count

Includes haemoglobin and haematocrit, which are important baseline safety markers.

Liver and kidney function

Assesses how well these organs are working, which is important for hormone metabolism and safe prescribing.

Cholesterol and lipids

Used to assess cardiovascular risk as part of a broader health review.

Ferritin

Measures iron stores, which can contribute to fatigue when abnormal.

HbA1c

Reflects average blood sugar levels and helps identify metabolic risk factors.

The test uses a Tasso® blood collection device, designed to make blood sampling as simple and low-discomfort as possible.

  • The device attaches to your upper arm
  • Gentle suction and a small lancet collect the blood sample
  • No finger-prick testing required
  • Blood is collected automatically into a sealed container

Once collected, the sample is returned using the prepaid packaging provided.

WHAT TO EXPECT

If results suggest further assessment could be helpful, you’ll be guided on possible next steps. Treatment is never automatic.
